Chad's Birthday!

Well I figured it was about time that I updated my blog I didn't realize that my last post a little less then a year ago so here we go :)

Months before November rolled around I had been trying to think of something awesome for Chads birthday. As I was sitting at the Bowen's house I got my inspiration. On the TV a commercial came on saying that Pink Floyd was coming to SLC. It was at that time that I knew that was the perfect present for Chad.

The bad thing about sharing a bank account is that Chad always knows when money is spent and has a good idea of what its for. So I came up with the amazing plan to have Chads mom buy them and I would get cash to pay her back, that way he would never know.

The concert was a month before his birthday so I created an awesome plan so I could still surprise him. I called and made plans that we would celebrate my parents birthdays since I was missing both of them this year. So we would have the birthday dinner Friday night with the whole family then Saturday we would head up for the concert.

Chad and I at Usana Ampitheatre
The weekend was awesome, we were able to see all of my family, eat some great food and just have a weekend to hang out and relax. When Saturday rolled around it was way hard not to tell him and my family kept dropping hints and asking "so.... what are you guys doing tonight" I would just reply I don't know something awesome though.

I told Chad that we were going up North somewhere and then as we headed up to Salt Lake I played his favorite Pink Floyd song and he put two and two together and realized that we were going to listen to them play. He was way stoked and way surprised. The concert was such a blast and the band was amazing one of the most fun concerts we have ever been to. A month later we continued his birthday celebrations we both had class but I woke up and made him Breakfast then we went out to Brick oven for lunch.

That night after school and work we met up with Chads Family and went to Olive garden for his birthday dinner. Then we all headed to our apartment and had some bts cake and ice cream. Chad is 24 now he is getting old! I could not imagine life without Chad Ross I am the luckiest girl alive to have him and I love him more every day. I hope you had a great birthday chad I love you!

Our first Anniversary :)

It is so crazy to think that a year ago I married my best friend. I am reminded everyday how truly lucky I am to have someone so wonderful in my life. They say that the first year is the hardest and heck if that's the case then bring it on because this last year has been the best year of my life. I am so glad that we still have forever to go. For our Anniversary we decided that a trip to Vegas would be a nice get away.
We started the day off by eating some breakfast made by yours truly. It was nothing special but it was nice to eat a nice breakfast together starting the our new year off right. Obviously we have a pretty different tastes but we work it out.

After breakfast I went out and did a little shopping and when I returned Chad has these amazing flowers waiting for me.

Once the afternoon came we made our way to Vegas. We found out hotel first to drop off our things then we decided to find the gold & silver pawn shop from the TV show pawn stars. It was a little different then we thought it would be but it is still a way fun place to visit.

Next we headed to my favorite restaurant of all time and that would be Cheesecake factory. I ordered stuffed tacos and Chad ordered Shrimp and Chicken Jumbulia. The only sad part of this dinner was that we were both so stuffed that we saved zero room for cheesecake... oh well that means we will just have to come back sooner then later.

We had a little bit before our show started so we went and watched the water show at the Bellagio Fountains. One of my favorite attractions in Vegas for sure.

Chad bought us tickets to the Circ de soulie show at the MGM Grand and it was so amazing. These kind of shows are unreal and I recommend them to anyone who is looking for an amazing show to see.

After the show we finally had enough room for desert the only problem was everything was pretty much closed so we ended up stopping at tell taco for a couple of milk shakes haha not the best desert in the world but it hit the spot. It was a great first year Anniversary and I cannot believe how fast that went. Being married could not be better and I am so lucky to have the most amazing husband in the world. One year down forever to go and we could not be happier.

September 2nd 2010 A day to always remember :)

A year ago today was the day that Chad officially proposed. I cant believe how fast time can flys when you are with the one you love. I have never been happier in my life and I am so lucky to have Chad in my life. September 2nd 2010 started off as a normal day. We both attended our classes and and went to work. I was with Chad when he got off work and he asked me what I wanted to do tonight. I told him that I was going to the gym to workout and then we could do whatever he wanted when I got done. He kept trying to persuade me to not work out tonight, i think he asked me about five times not to workout. He even threw in the "you look amazing you don't need to workout" but being the stubborn girl that I am, I ended up working out that night for about two hours. I figured that we would probably just be chillin at his house that night watching a movie or something so after my workout I showered and just put my hair in a braid and headed over to his house no make up and sporting my sweats and let me tell you I looked attractive. When I got the Bowens house Chad and I headed down to the basement and we talked for a little while. Chad then asked if I wanted to go star gazing so we loaded his truck up with blankets and headed up to our spot. There is a place out near Veyo that Chad found one day. One Sunday afternoon he went on a drive and decided to follow a dirt road, he drove the road for a while and decided to park and hike for a bit. As he was watching the sun set that evening that was the first time that he knew he was going to marry me. We had been up to this spot a couple times and we made it our spot. As we drove out there Jack Johnson was playing in the background and I was so happy just being with Chad and looking at the beautiful scenery on our way up there. We drove the dirt road for a while and set up some blankets in the back of the truck. The starts we amazing that night it couldn't have been more perfect and I was completely oblivious to what was going on, getting a ring that night didn't really cross my mind. We layed there looking at the stars talking about our relationship from our first kiss to the night he asked me to be his girlfriend, to the first time we said I love you and the time we spent together in Canada. Then Chad started to get up, he got up on his knees and told me how much I meant to him and that he wanted to spend forever with me then he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him.

Obviously I said yes and that was the best decision of my live. we continued looking at the stars and admiring my ring it couldn't have been more perfect and Chad picked it out himself and i wouldn't have wanted anything else. It is a day that we will never forget and we look forward to being together for time and all eternity.

How to enjoy camping without wood for a fire or a working flashlight.

Chad and I have always loved camping but for as long as we have been together we never found the time to go. Finally we decided we would spend the weekend camping and it was a blast.
Chads best friend Eric came down that weekend and so we packed up the truck and the three of us headed out to sand hollow. We didn't end up taking off until about 8 so we ended up setting up camp in the dark. When we got there we realized we had forgotten a flashlight until we found one in the glove box but it only lasted about 15 minutes so that was helpful.
We got everything set up and started dinner. We brought with us a little coal grill and one small bag of coal so that's all we had for a (fire) if you can call it that. Luckily we live in St George and it doesn't get too cold. We cooked some delicious tin foil dinners and enjoyed the night looking at the stars.
The next day we ate some breakfast, cleaned up camp and did some fishing. Overall Eric was the only one who caught a fish and it was on the second cast so we spent the day trying to catch some more but had no luck. The plus side though is that we were all able to bask in the sun attempting to get some color on our skin.
The weekend was awesome and we look forward to doing  a lot more camping this summer. Next time maybe with some wood and a working flashlight. :)

Wicked Weevils

Chad and I have friends who are having all kinds of adventures. There are those who decide to go to humanitarian projects in Africa for three months. Those who just decided to move to China, those going on exquisite vacations all sound like great adventures right? Well ours was just a little but different... we had a weevil adventure fun right? A couple months ago we started noticing little white worm like creatures like the ones in the picture above and then soon enough they would sprout wings and be flying around our apartment. In the beginning there were only a few here and there but it soon got much much worse.

We discovered that they had been nesting in some tupperware on top of our cabinets so we cleaned them and had a friend come spray the house. Little did we know the problem was about to get worse. More and more started to show up, I would come home and see about 10 worms making there way up the wall and I don't know how many flyers were around. So we took another step in the right direction or so we thought when we threw away all or our rice and pasta we thought this would do it for sure. But once again WRONG.

Soon enough we were finding bugs not only in our kitchen but in our room as well, they were EVERYWHERE! We reached the final breaking point when Chad poured himself a bowl of marshmallow maties as he went to pour a second bowl a weevil plopped into his milk and began to swim around. Well that was the beginning of the end for those dang bugs.

We gutted our whole house throwing away ALL of our food, the only food we could keep were canned. We cleared out our entire kitchen and put bleach and soap everywhere. After this we went to the store and bought some bug bombs and bug spray. We packed a bag and set off the bomb on our way out of the door and left to spend the night at the Bowens. I went back the next morning after class and was looking around and I found more bugs so that night we set off yet another bomb praying that this would be the end of the evil weevils.

If 4 bombs didn't get these guys then they deserved to live. Luckily it has been much better and we have not had too many issues. We were lucky enough to get a managing position so now we are out of that bug infested hole anyway. We moved into a three bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment and could not be happier. Maybe one of these days we can have a real adventure instead of a dreaded one but for now we are happy living bug free.

We ended up throwing away 6 bags food...
